Bloomfield Bees Honey’s bee tree

Well it has been over a year now and our massive bee tree from St Helena over in the Napa Valley is still alive and doing very well. This tree that we saved the bees from is now gone. When we first were contacted it stood over 100 feet high, 5 feet across at the base and was rotten to the core!
We waited two days for the tree company to get to our branch. We had been waiting in the cold, drinking coffee and watching in amazement as these tree surgeons did magic acts in the air! I am not sure who I admired more, them or the bees for their patience!
The weather was cold but clear and after two days of cutting the dear crew managed to cut and drop a 6 foot section of that tree right into our waiting trailer!
The one hole was stuff closed with a bunch of burlap and then we were off! An hour later we backed into “the hive” at Bloomfield Road and dropped off the trailer. We left them alone except for pulling out the burlap. Then we waited about 2 weeks before our second move for the girls. A dear friend, Emery Dann, a local treeman and beekeeper, helped us lop off two more feet with a huge chain saw.
It took 3 strong backs to “bee” handle that huge log across and into place next to the fence. We worked over the next few days to get it into a close approximate of how it was in the tree. Then, we waited for almost a month and I have to admit I rarely saw a bee coming or going the entire time!
Then, one warm early spring day they came to life! We watched and so far we have gotten two swarms from that queen and expect more this year because they are doing better than ever!
When you stop by our farm stand if you look across the fence you will see the big tree stump…look close and they will be flying on a sunny day!
